More May Day Coverage

May 10, 2012

My apologies for not posting-as promised-the second part of my May Day photo-essay. There is some great coverage of May 1st by our friends at Vigilant Squirrel Brigade though, including footage of the attack upon NY ICE. You can find multiple videos of the confrontation-and what led up to it-on VSB’s Youtube channel. You can also find some fantastic photographs over at The Silent Majority No More.

You’ll see my last entry about the events surrounding May Day sometime later this week.

One Step Forward

One Step Forward

Some qualified good news came out of the Supreme Court recently, with a decision that partially upheld Arizona’s 2004 voter identification law. Unfortunately, while the court let stand the portion of Proposition 200 that required voters to provide I.D. in order to vote, it invalidated the I.D. requirement for voter registration.

The bigger news though, from the perspective of those of us who want to ensure fair and transparent elections, is the decision by the American Legislative Exchange Council to  withdraw its support for the voter identification laws now under sustained legal assault by the Obama administration. Although the ostensible rationale for ALEC’s narrowed legislative focus is the coordinated left wing crusade against Stand your Ground laws in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting, this incident was simply the pretext for an ongoing attempt to legitimize election fraud by Van Jones and his open borders, collectivist allies. May Day 2012 (Marxists, Communists, Librarians)

May Day 2012 (Marxists, Communists, Librarians)

One of the hallmarks of demonstrations organized by the left-as anyone who lives in this city can attest-is a consistently muddled message-or assemblage of messages-which often has little bearing on the theme ostensibly animating the protest movement in question. I’m not sure if the occupiers displaying the words of anti-USSR, Marxist Polish philosopher-turned anti-Marxist Solidarity activist-Leszek Kolakowski appreciate their import-considering the number of CCCP t-shirts and Soviet flags I saw displayed throughout May Day, I doubt most of them do. However, the Kolakowski quote did strike an ironic note when juxtaposed against the sea of slogans chanted by protesters this past Tuesday, some of them contradictory, some of them incoherent, and some of them not even leftist so much as anti-state. Happy Cinco De Mayo!

May 5, 2012
Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Or, as New Yorkers like to call it, Discount Tequila Day. President Obama used this occasion to promote-what else-amnesty for illegal aliens! I bet you thought it was going to be more restrictive family reunification policies, didn’t you? My own suggestion is that you celebrate May 5th  by proudly waving Old Glory, and since school’s not in session, you’ll probably even be able to do so without incurring the wrath of the judiciary and/or craven school administrators.

On a more serious note, today marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic death of Marine Jose Guerena at the hands of a SWAT team in Pima County, Arizona. I’d recommend keeping his surviving family members-including his widow and their young children-in your thoughts and prayers.

The Heckler’s Veto (May Day Attack on NY ICE)

The Heckler’s Veto (May Day Attack on NY ICE)

Update:  More great coverage of the May Day assault at The Silent Majority No More.

Here’s a followup from Joanna Marzullo, president of New Yorkers for Immigration Control and Enforcement, describing the events surrounding her assault at the hands of pro-illegal alien thugs during the May Day march to Foley Square. Unfortunately, the banner seen above is no more. However, the spirit of defiance it embodies lives on.

Joanna’s report after the jump.

Mayday

May 2, 2012

Update: Urban Infidel has some fantastic coverage of the sea of humanity in Union Square yesterday, as well as an illuminating slideshow

I’ll post a more detailed recap of what happened yesterday later this week, but until then I’d like you to see a video shot by Joanna Marzullo when scads of illegal aliens and their enablers assaulted members of NY ICE. You can see more footage shot during May Day on this Youtube channel. I’m not sure if the lucha libre wrestler has his papers, but considering the fact that there are over 600,000 illegal aliens living in this state it wouldn’t come as a complete shock if he didn’t.

Stay Tuned

April 30, 2012

Update: Today’s quasi-eventful live-tweet is up. I’ll have a full photo-essay in the coming days.

As I mentioned in the activism tab, I’ll be documenting all the May Day festivities tomorrow-including any random undocumented citizen sightings. I’ll be tweeting sporadically, but until then content yourself with the news that California continues to sink into the abyss that Adam Carolla has presciently warned us of many times in the past.

What You Can Do

North Carolina and the Nation

August 10, 2012
North Carolina and the Nation

Over the past two years Americans have seen the issue of illegal immigration take center stage after being relegated to the periphery of national political debate for so many years.

The divided-and misleadingly named-Arizona vs. U.S. Supreme Court decision, which upheld one key enforcement provision of SB 1070 while invalidating others, the unilateral administrative amnesty which the Obama administration has used to bypass Congress, and the systematic abandonment of federal immigration law by individual states-including New York-have all brought the battle over American sovereignty to a head in this volatile election year.  Read More »

Stolen Lives

August 4, 2012

As most of you know, the tragedies caused by our government’s negligence in immigration enforcement are manifold. The victimes of illegal alien crime are nearly incalculable and grow by the hour.  That’s why the initiative created by proud Texan Maria Espinoza, The Stolen Lives Quilt, is so vital at this time. I’ll let Joanna Marzullo, of New York Ice, explain how you can view the quilt.   Read More »

Act Against The ATT

July 16, 2012

In a little over a week, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will convene with other opponents of individual liberties under the umbrella of the Global Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). Although billed as a multinational effort to curb the proliferation of weapons used in conflicts like the insurrection in Syria or the turmoil in the Sahel, the actual goal-as explained by Wayne LaPierre in an illuminating speech to the United Nations-is to deprive individuals of their natural right to self defense and our  historical and biblical right to take up arms against tyrannical authority.

Although a majority of members of the United States Senate have already spoken out against the ATT, it’s imperative that we stiffen the spine of Congress, especially since its resistance to this administration’s unconstitutional acts has been sorely lacking. That’s why I urge you all to sign the petition against this treaty that is hosted on Dick Morris’s website.

Our rights are only protected to the extent that we’re willing to defend them. It’s time to stand up for them once again!

A Nightmarish Dream

June 20, 2012

With the Obama administration’s unilateral decision to ratify what up to this point had merely been a de facto amnesty-literally interpreting catch and release-and the cravenly insipid Republican response to the President’s latest patently unconstitutional power grab, patriotic Americans wouldn’t be blamed for feeling powerless when it comes to protecting their country.

Judicial intervention to restrain executive overreach seems highly unlikely, and the spigot for future illegal aliens continues to flow in the form of student and tourist visas, over 100,000 of them granted to our friends from Saudi Arabia-remember them-within a single week! Even so, there are ways of resisting the advances of those who would benefit from our country’s demise. Read More »
