It would appear that the remnants of Occupy Wall Street have decided to hook up with the open borders movement in order to push for more lax immigration enforcement in a state where it has almost entirely disappeared. Joanna Marzullo, President of New York ICE, has all of the details.
Hi NY ICers,
A pro-illegal alien NYC advocacy group, called “New Immigrant Community Empowerment” (get this…their acronym is “NICE”), has jumped on the bandwagon of the “99%” shape-shifting phrase we heard all-too-often during the “occupation” of Wall Street.
This “NICE” group is based in Jackson Heights, Queens, which is another NYC hotbed of illegal aliens. And, guess what, they have NYC Councilman Daniel Dromm as one of their host committee members. And, of course, it was the NYC Council that recently passed Intro 656, which I’ve emailed extensively about, which is meant to further erode the communication between federal ICE officials and the Corrections Department at Riker’s.
I am including the entire propaganda email below, and particularly think that the line about the “criminalization of immigrant bodies and labor by the 1%” is telling. Like I’ve said before, this whole “we are the 99% against the 1%” slogan is a shape-shifting one. It means whatever they want it to mean. It is a slogan used to get whatever they want. Personally, I don’t belong to the wealthiest segment of society (and I don’t automatically hate anyone because of their financial status), but I know that I, and NY ICE, will be labeled “part of the 1%” because the opposition does not like the NY ICE Mission of enforcing our own federal government’s own immigration laws. Therefore, presto-chango, we are the 1% to them.
Whatever. I am part of the people who want our existing immigration laws enforced and our borders effectively secured. You can call me whatever “percentage” you like and I still will pursue my mission.
Here is the other side’s entire email:
