DREAM On

There is great news to report from the state of Maryland, which recently enacted a law that would have granted illegal aliens in-state college tuition. At a time when this country-as well as that state-is mired in a deep recession, and college students are encumbered by thousands of dollars in student loan debt, the fact that Governor Martin O’Malley and the state legislature chose to grant preferential treatment to people whose families repeatedly violate our laws was an affront to civic-minded Americans everywhere.

That’s why the news that this law’s potential repeal will be an option on the ballot for the coming election is such a welcome relief! Read the entire report on how a group of ordinary Maryland voters resisted the forces of the ACLU, Casa De Maryland, and other outfits that have made the state one of the most attractive magnets for undocumented Americans. The fight against the DREAM Act will be a long, hard slog, as the imbecilic hearings staged by Dick Durbin this week illustrate-but the fact that we’ve succeeded in turning back the tide in an overwhelmingly Democratic state demonstrates yet again that the American public is with us! Let’s hope this momentum continues in the months ahead, and that we eventually defeat the DREAMers and their open-borders allies throughout the country.
