One of the chief tools used by the open borders movement in its attack upon immigration law is a sustained frontal assault upon our language. Specifically, altering the plain meaning of words that until recently all of us took for granted. By stigmatizing descriptive, precise language, such as the phrase “illegal aliens,” they hope to normalize what is essentially criminal activity. Even terms like “resident alien,” which carry no connotations of lawbreaking, are apparently pejorative to the tender sensibilities of the open borders mob, as Governor Moonbeam’s recent decision to remove the word “alien” from the state’s labor code would suggest.
