Courtesy of the Huntsville Times, we learn of yet another case where an illegal alien murdered two innocent Americans. Perhaps even more offensive than the relatively lenient sentence doled out to Felix Ortega-the killer in question-is the fact that this case is not exceptional in the least.
The number of people killed or murdered by illegal aliens is so numerous-and the occurrence of these unnecessary tragedies so ubiquitous-that entire websites are devoted to the subject. Lest you think that instances of illegal aliens driving automobiles are rare, you can do a quick Google search that yields over 200,000 results when the phrases “illegal aliens” and “driver’s license” are typed into the search engine. And not content to rely merely upon anecdotal information, we’ll provide you with a column written by an Hispanic reporter working for the open-borders rag the Los Angeles Times, which uses statistical evidence compiled from the Institute for Highway Safety to demonstrate that this is a grave problem indeed.
And yet we currently have a President of the United States who supports granting driver’s licenses to the very same people who pose this lethal risk to the rest of the country. Not to mention, scads of pandering congressmen, senators, and governors who support the relaxation of laws governing the operation of motor vehicles.
The only reason these politicians support such a transparently stupid, dangerous public policy is because they are political opportunists. They want to curry favor with the Mexican government, which is very interested in influencing our domestic policy, or they want to pander to a voting bloc that they inexplicably perceive as supporting lawlessness. What they refuse to do is answer the questions from the families of Felix Ortega’s victims, and for good reason. They would have to explain to those grief-stricken families why they support policies that makes the deaths of innocent American motorists and citzens more likely.
That’s horrible, I never really followed immigration issues until I started covering it a couple months ago. Every week I’ll do at least one Google search for “illegal alien” withing the previous week and always find stories like the one about the murderer. Maybe if a wall were put on the border this would not happen so often.
