Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals – American-Rattlesnake http://american-rattlesnake.org Immigration News, Analysis, and Activism Thu, 22 Jun 2017 20:18:23 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.5 Republican Voters vs. Republican Politicians http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/03/republican-voters-vs-republican-politicians/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/03/republican-voters-vs-republican-politicians/#respond Sat, 22 Mar 2014 14:48:24 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=16887 Rep._Renee_Ellmers

As the White House contemplates an expansion of its constitutionally dubious administrative amnesty, it’s worth taking a look at how the treason lobby’s Republican accomplices are dealing with the public’s repudiation of their most cherished legislative priority, i.e. opening the spigot to an endless stream of cheap, imported labor. A particularly revealing exchange happened a week or so ago on the Laura Ingraham Show during an interview with faux conservative Rep. Renee Ellmers, a woman who ran for Congress under the banner of the Tea Party.

Instead of listening to the concerns expressed by her constituents on the subject of immigration reform, i.e. amnesty,  however, she has decided to throw in her lot with the one of the most lavishly-funded, dense Capitol Hill lobbying networks. Which might explain why Tamar Jacoby and her allies are rallying around the embattled congresswoman even as conservative North Carolinians seek viable alternatives to the complacent incumbent.

While the Republican Party leadership doesn’t get it, Republican voters understand the necessity of preventing the implementation of another amnesty for which the GOP will (rightly) be held culpable. An amnesty that will make the election of candidates like Renee Ellmers an impossibility in the near future, something that open borders Republicans like her don’t seem to grasp.

It turns out that the Coulter-Kaus debate was broadcast on one of  C-SPAN’s many outlets yesterday, despite the unofficial CPAC ban on discussion of the most important domestic political issue. You can watch the full debate here. In addition to covering the political costs of amnesty and the legally and constitutionally dubious nature of the Obama administration’s administrative amnesty, they also explore the Democratic and Republican presidential fields and the political and economic consequences of Obamacare, as well as entitlement reform.

Perpetuating Amnesty http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/12/perpetuating-amnesty/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/12/perpetuating-amnesty/#respond Fri, 13 Dec 2013 06:20:10 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=16537 President Barack Obama bids farewell to the family of Mexican President Felipe Calderon following their meeting in Mexico City, Thursday, April 16, 2009. Author: Pete Souza, White House photographer

One thing we learned from the online ‘chat’ organized by the White House regarding its plans for immigration reform is that it will extend the constitutionally dubious program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Unfortunately, the Obama administration does not seem to take substantive critiques of its abuse of power very seriously, even if they come from very liberal, well-respected legal scholars.

The only path forward, therefore, is to resist the impulse on the part of Congress to enact wholesale legislative amnesty, which is still very much a threat, especially in wake of the recent budget agreement.

Hang in there, folks. It’s going to be a very bumpy ride.

Yet another example of Barack Obama’s unwillingness to acknowledge the separation of powers, or abide by any constraints upon his presidential authority. In this case, it’s an extension of the patently unconstitutional administrative amnesty which began over two years ago. Mark Krikorian has the details of the President’s latest evasion of the law

Who needs to follow the law when your presidency is too big to fail? I’m sure a former occupant of the White House would agree.

Your Government At Work http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/09/your-government-at-work/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/09/your-government-at-work/#respond Sat, 07 Sep 2013 04:59:25 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=16148 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers going aboard a ship to examine cargo in May 2004. It’s not pretty.

And open borders enthusiasts wonder why the American public is reluctant to embrace this administration’s comprehensive amnesty. Endemic corruption-which predates the arrival of Barack Obama in the White House-utter contempt for Constitutional and legal limitations, and a staggering inability among enforcement agencies to perform the basic functions under its purview are merely the most obvious reasons why the Gang of Eight monstrosity-or any bill remotely similar in structure-should be resoundingly rejected by this Congress.

In order to understand why we are treading such a perilous path all you need do is turn the front page of your local newspaper, turn on your television, peruse the Web, and open your eyes.

Illegal immigration, and our government’s enablement of criminal aliens on our soil, is serious business.

Jobs and Justice http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/08/jobs-and-justice/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/08/jobs-and-justice/#respond Fri, 30 Aug 2013 04:54:10 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=16126 "Hundreds of thousands descended on Washington, D.C.'s, Lincoln Memorial Aug. 28, 1963. It was from the steps of the memorial that King delivered his famous I Have a Dream speech. King's many speeches and nonviolent actions were instrumental in shaping the nation's outlook on equality." 8/28/1963

One of the more galling aspects of an otherwise unremarkable speech delivered by the President commemorating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, was the attempt to link the struggle of the Civil Rights Movement during the 20th century with the attempts by open borders demagogues to further erode the value of American citizenship. Although to most reasonable Americans the linkage between these two social-political movements would seem puzzling-if not patently offensive-it is one repeatedly made by the treason lobby, perhaps most bizarrely by the permanently deranged Frank Sharry, who compared the current plight of illegal aliens to the suffering of antebellum slaves in the United States.

Oddly enough, it wasn’t too long ago that seemingly principled liberals opposed legislation which would retard the economic progress of the poorest Americans while at the same time reinforcing entrenched stratification. And while some still oppose a bill that would handicap the most disadvantaged American workers-in spite of overwhelming pressure to capitulate to the prevailing  kultursmog-most have succumbed to the open borders ideology which animates most elite institutions.

That’s why the letter penned by Coretta Scott King-the widow of the man whose name is synonymous with the march President Obama honored a few days ago-and issued by the Black Leadership Forum in opposition to a law that also expanded the opportunities for immigrants while introducing the dreadful Diversity Lottery at the expense of working class Americans, is required reading. The fact that there was a point in the not so distant past where liberal Democrats opposed the machinations of the cheap labor lobby-rather than bragged about their alliance with the Chamber of Commerce-is information that needs to be impressed upon those who have not been paying attention to this momentous debate, which-like the March on Washington before it-will have an inalterable impact upon the future of this nation.

The End Of Equality http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/08/the-end-of-equality/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/08/the-end-of-equality/#respond Fri, 02 Aug 2013 19:12:20 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=16023 Picture of Mickey Kaus, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. senate in California. Author: Stephen Kaus.

One of the most incisive, astute observers of the growing income inequality and stratification that characterizes large portions of this nation’s economy is writer Mickey Kaus. Unique among his colleagues for being a prominent voice within the mainstream media and yellow dog Democrat who opposes the mass, unskilled immigration which the institutional left and its press organs glorify, he now writes a regular column for the conservative Washington D.C. online news magazine The Daily Caller.

Kaus’s voice is essential, because it represents the last concrete manifestation of New Deal liberalism untethered to the Democratic Party’s post-1965 infatuation with empowering “new” minorities, even at the expense of the working class Americans who were once the indelible anchor of that party’s base. The historical transformation of the Democratic Party from an ostensible ally-if not tribune-of blue collar and impoverished Americans into a political force comprised primarily of servitors to corporate interests and ethnic lobbyists is no more apparent than in the current “debate” over enacting yet another sweeping legislative amnesty.

An unintentionally hilarious illustration of this change can be found in a column written by New York Times Editor-in-Chief Bill Keller which attempts to persuade skeptical liberals that embracing the Gang of Eight scheme is in their best interests. You can pinpoint the exact moment when elite liberal opinion keelhauled its followers when he touts the benefits of this bill by approvingly citing the open borders libertarians at the Cato Institute.

This is why watching the interview of Mickey Kaus by the Center for Immigration Studies is absolutely necessary for those of us who want to know why and how the ostensible political successor to Jefferson and Jackson came to embody the most unpalatable values of aristocratic, east coast elitism while at the same time becoming the  implacable foe of ordinary, working class Americans-even those who are critical to its electoral success.

I urge you all to watch this conversation closely and use it to pose some tough questions that Democrats have been dodging about this momentous plan to fundamentally transform America. The open borders caucus-which includes virtually every single elected Democratic in the nation’s capital-needs to be held to account for its decision to abandon its constituents.

Reject Their DREAM http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/06/reject-their-dream/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/06/reject-their-dream/#respond Fri, 07 Jun 2013 18:09:56 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=15507 NY ICE Banner 5-1.12 ETC 007
Mitch McConnell and his band of merry man have decided to let debate on the Gang of Eight  catastrophe proceed. That means that we have to push back even more vigorously. Joanna Marzullo, of New York ICE, has details of an upcoming event where you can make your voice heard. All of the information you’ll need can be found below the fold.
Hi NY ICers!
NY ICE will once again counter protest the D.R.E.A.M. Amnesty this coming Tuesday. The illegals  are again demanding for their D.R.E.A.M. amnesty for illegal alien college students. This time, they will be in front of NY Governor Cuomo’s Office. NY ICE will likely, once again, be the only ones countering them.
So, please come if you can! The D.R.E.A.M. Amnesty is not even about illegals having access to college, which, unfortunately, they already have, but it’s about them having access to financial aid!  Yes, they want YOU to pay for it!
Here are the details:
WHAT:  NY ICE Counter Protest Against the D.R.E.A.M. Amnesty
WHEN: This Tuesday, June 11th, 2013, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm
WHERE: Governor Cuomo’s NYC Office located at 633 Third Avenue, between 40th and 41st Streets in Manhattan.
BRING:  As always, bring Cameras and Signs. Signs should be simple, and in bold-faced lettering.  A good idea for signage is:  “Their D.R.E.A.M. is our NIGHTMARE”.

CONTACT:  Joanna at progressrose@yahoo.com to let her know if you will be able to come!

The Dream Debate http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/05/the-dream-debate/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2013/05/the-dream-debate/#respond Fri, 24 May 2013 21:11:01 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=15144

Some of you might remember this site mentioning a film project involving Joanna Marzullo-founder and president of New Yorkers for Immigration Control and Enforcement-some time ago. The film, directed by NYU student Caterina Andreano, focuses on the national debate surrounding the Dream Act, with a particular emphasis upon New York City.

While the legislative battle over the Dream Act, whose proponents have been attempting to enact it into law for well over a decade, might have been obviated by an administrative directive of dubious constitutionality, the question of who is entitled to United States citizenship remains as pertinent as it was when this issue was being debated as a stand-alone bill. In fact, if the Gang of Eight’s scheme is implemented, we will experience an enhanced, super-sized version of the Dream Act, eligible to “youths” who are well into middle age.

That’s why discussing this issue is so crucial, and works such Caterina’s documentary so important. You’ll find Joanna’s role-including an interview and footage of NY ICE’s street activism-starting at approximately nine minutes and forty seconds into the video. Feel free to discuss your feelings about the film-as well as the Dream Act itself-below. You can watch footage from other reports by Caterina by accessing her Youtube page.
