Comedy for a Cause

It’s difficult to find humor in an event as tragic and consequential as Hurricane Sandy, which left thousands of people temporarily homeless and hundreds dead from Port-au-Prince to Breezy Point. However, some local comedians, including my friend Robert George, are attempting to use the gift of humor to help out some of those whose lives have been irrevocably altered by Sandy.

Later tonight they’ll be hosting and performing at an event, Comedy for the Coast, the proceeds from which will be donated to charities devoted to relief and recovery efforts in the Tri-State Area, such as Restore the Shore and Rebuilding Together NYC. The evening begins at 6 PM and will run until ten o’clock at The Player’s Theatre. For more details check out their Facebook page, which includes directions and a link where you can buy advance tickets for only thirteen dollars.
