This week’s thwarting of a plot to behead Pamela Geller by a jihadist cell in Massachusetts might have surprised those of you who aren’t familiar with the deep roots that Islamists have sunk into the Bay State. Even though the Boston Marathon bombing by the Tsarnaev brothers has shed some light on this disturbing phenomenon, leading some to investigate links the Islamic Society of Boston has to Islamic terrorists operating both domestically and overseas, there is still a lack of awareness among the general public about this threat. 

That’s why the work of patriotic, anti-Islamic extremist organizations like Americans for Peace and Tolerance is so vital at this moment. Created by anti-slavery, pro-Israel activist Dr. Charles Jacobs, APT has spent many years educating the public about the dangers posed by extremist clerics preaching envenomed sermons at local mosques in Boston and surrounding suburbs, even if it has meant bucking entrenched political and religious interests in order to alert citizens to the threats within their midst.

While the deceased jihadist might have been supported by Islamic State actors outside of the United States, we need to discover who and what prompted him to begin this journey, and whether or not the focus of this investigation should include the mosque whose alumni read like a Who’s Who of ambitious jihadis.

One of the tools the global jihad attempts to use against the West is the imposition of economic and fiscal costs-to the point of bankruptcy-upon its targets. Al Qaeda and the Islamic State, as well as their affiliates throughout the world, have made it clear that they seek to not only impose psychological terror but financial privation upon their intended victims. For those who want to get an idea of just how costly it is to protect yourself and your family from the rampaging armies of Allah, I suggest reading Joseph Anton, the beautiful memoir written by Salman Rushdie which explores the years he was forced to live in hiding for unknowingly offending the tender sensibilities of the Caliphate.

There is no question that Pamela Geller and her colleagues in the anti-jihadist movement face similar economic burdens as they stand up to the most grave threat Western civilization has faced since the fall of the Third Reich. Read Pamela’s defiant response to those savages who would not only threaten her life but deprive her of her livelihood simply because she refuses to embrace dhimmitude. Then, if you have the means and the inclination, help defray some of the enormous expenses that are being incurred defending the life of this patriotic woman, who has more courage in one of her pinky fingers than exists in that glass monstrosity located on 8th Avenue.

If you needed another reason why endowing Iran with nuclear weapons is a colossally bad idea, look no further than the latest manifestation of the Religion of Peace. The massacre at Garissa University in Kenya has taken the lives of nearly 150 Christians. Less than half a dozen well-trained Muslim terrorists armed with semi-automatic weapons and improvised explosive devices were able to murder the civilian equivalent of a company of soldiers with ease. And yet the notion of a genocidal Islamic state with ballistic missile capability being accepted into the nuclear club is something the global community greets with a shrug, at best.

How many more slayings of helpless infidels are necessary before we collectively abandon this increasingly macabre version of Groundhog Day? Only time will tell, but I’m not looking forward to the answer.

One teacher was allegedly immolated in front of his students. Sadly, this is not the largest loss of a life in a jihadist assault against schoolchildren. I can’t say that I disagree with those who feel Islamed out at the moment.

Kudos to our good friends at Urban Infidel and The Silent Majority No More for doing the job our nation’s gatekeepers have so conspicuously forsaken, as well as Glenn Beck for highlighting a story that’s been kept hidden from the American public. Even as a  white English convert to Islam wreaks havoc across international borders, the moral degeneracy of an elite class which has planted a culture completely alien, and resolutely hostile, to the fundamental precepts of western civilization firmly in our soil. It’s time we started to listen to the Cassandras of our culture, instead of allowing politically correct, morally and intellectually bankrupt solons in the media, academe and popular culture to dictate how we discuss matters of life and death.

We need to wake up

It should come as no surprise to anyone paying attention that among the jihadists responsible for perpetrating this massacre, several hail from the community of Somali Muslim refugees resettled in the United States. A community whose troubles have been amply documented on this site, among others. Rather than belabor a point which we’ve explored on numerous occasions, I ask you to listen to the profoundly moving words of a man who, controversial past aside, embodies the resolve of a nation determined to withstand the unholy war waged by civilization’s foes.

Twelve years on, and this nation’s caretakers still have not absorbed the lessons of that day. Don’t let their sacrifices be in vain.

One of the most astute, prolific critics of the growing threat posed by Islamism to the United Kingdom-and the West in general-is Douglas Murray. Some of you might remember him from the Intelligence Squared debate where he teamed up with human rights activist and apostate from Islam Ayaan Hirsi Ali to refute the proposition that Islam Is a Religion of Peace. Now he’s written a book that takes to task those-mostly on the left, but across the political spectrum-who would continue to defend the religious precepts animating the Woolwich butchers and those rampaging across Stockholm out of ideological solidarity. Islamophilia: A Very Metropolitan Malady is not only timely, but pivotal to understanding the incoherent thinking that is the ethos  of the illiberal consensus.

Read it, before it’s too late.
