It seems as if the open borders lobby’s plan to enact amnesty on a state-by-state basis has achieved yet another victory, as the Oregon State Senate approved a bill that would grant in-state tuition to all Oregon residents, including those who are residing there illegally.
The usual coalition of pandering Democrats-eager to expand their future political base-and craven Republicans, operating under the illusion that catering to illegal aliens will ingratiate them to (legal) Hispanic voters, is responsible for its passage.
Although the enactment of this bill by a very liberal legislature and governor appears to be a foregone conclusion at this point, I still urge every one of you who is in the state-and even those of you who are not Oregonians-to contact the Oregon House of Representatives to express your vehement opposition to this subversion of federal immigration law. You can find all of the information you’ll need here.
As dispiriting as recent news has been-and I fully admit that reading these headlines discourages even the hardiest activist among us-I don’t think we can give in to depression. The open borders lobby is relentless, and never allows itself to be deterred from its ultimate goal, i.e. compromising this nation’s sovereignty and erasing the promise of American citizenship. We need to be just as dogged and determined in our struggle to repel their assaults, even if it is emotionally taxing at times like these.
