Yesterday one of America’s worst mayors met the President-elect for a friendly chat about the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens living in this city. The most striking aspect of this meeting is the hubris of Bill de Blasio, someone who thinks he can make demands of an incoming President who was elected upon a platform of enforcing the law. Even worse than the insinuation that illegal aliens should enjoy blanket immunity is the threat to destroy the personal records of illegal immigrants who applied for IDNYC. This is simply another illustration of the civic corruption which is hollowing out America’s cities-and by extension, the country-through illegal immigration.

And even as Mayor de Blasio trumpets the news of prefabricated hate hoaxes, many of which have already been discredited, he staffs his administration with officials who revel in their bigotry and hatred of certain races. The galling hypocrisy of the left, its inability to acknowledge reality-even when it literally runs them over-and its disjuncture from causality are all reasons why the Democrats were electorally destroyed in this election. The fact that they continue to resist the law of the land and refuse to abandon their completely discredited narratives merely serves to illustrate how little they’ve learned over the past week.

We might be in for a long 4 years.

The World According To Hillary http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/08/the-world-according-to-hillary/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/08/the-world-according-to-hillary/#respond Sun, 28 Aug 2016 04:17:25 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=23120 384px-Hillary_Clinton_official_Secretary_of_State_portrait_crop

One of the more fascinating aspects of California’s transformation into the politically uniform, post-caucasian, multicultural utopia so many open borders Democrats-and their unwitting Republican allies-have worked so hard to achieve is the response of the ruling class. Most impartial observers might ask whether the hundreds of billions of dollars in unfunded liabilities and public debt assumed by that state have some connection to the flight of the middle class and its wholesale replacement by the underclass exported by Mexico’s political and economic elite. However, elected officials have never been plagued by intellectual curiosity, particularly those whose careers are built upon ignoring or denying self-evident truths.

So instead of considering the possibility that the rampant corruption found throughout municipalities like Bell might be a foreign import, that some of the monumental problems facing California might have been exacerbated by its laissez faire immigration policies, the wise men of that state have decided to strike out in search of demons. Whether it’s crafting a law to protect the rights of less than 0.1 percent of the population-which are not imperiled-or contemplating bills which seek to suppress the speech of individuals who disagree with noted climatologist Al Gore, the sages in Sacramento have decided the best use of their resources is combating the vast, chimerical right wing conspiracy.

Based upon the substance of her widely mocked alt-right speech, Hillary Clinton has come to the conclusion that this strategy is the key to her political success. Like the genocidal despot whom she’s modeled her campaign aesthetics and fashion choices after, Hillary will spend the remainder of her campaign-and presidency, should she be elected-persecuting people who exercise no concrete political power in the country she seeks to lead. The fact that her party, her collectivist, politically correct President, has achieved every single professed domestic policy goal-including those which are proscribed by the Constitution-and yet three-quarters of Americans are dissatisfied with the direction of this country, must have some rational explanation. The unparalleled stagnancy of the nation’s economy, the erasure of the middle class due to the implementation of Barack Obama’s signature issue, and the explosion of domestic, Islamic terror attacks under his administration couldn’t possibly be the result of deliberate actions taken by the Democratic Party’s standard bearer and his underlings-including Mrs. Clinton. Therefore, another culprit must be found.

The best scapegoat, naturally, is one that’s unable to derail her political ambitions but which serves as the perfect foil in her quest for attaining power. In this case, a random assortment of Internet villains whose mere existence validates the paranoid fantasies of the social justice brigades and Hillary’s more deranged feminist supporters. So rather than focus upon the enormous money laundering operation known as the Clinton Foundation-which might very well continue into the Clinton presidency-or her mass deletion of potentially incriminating evidence, outlets like the ever-objective New York Times and Washington Post can spend the next few months dissecting tweets from obscure MRA bloggers and followers of Mencius Moldbug.

This, in addition to disclosures which have been strategically obstructed throughout the campaign, is what we have to look forward to over the next four years. An unrelenting, lavishly funded witch-hunt against witches that do not exist and who are not responsible for the monumental problems we are facing as a country. For an overview of how we arrived at this point, I would recommend this Mark Steyn piece from 2005 published right before the Trump ascendancy. It clearly delineates why the power brokers within the GOP were so unprepared to deal with Donald Trump and the challenge his supporters presented to the entrenched Republican apparatus. It also describes why the glorious future of multiculturalist uniformity will not be so glorious in reality. Elites look out for their interests, to the detriment of the public, and this election is a concrete illustration of that principle.

The peasants are angry, and for very good reason. Perhaps Mrs. Clinton’s stenographers in the press corps should start paying attention.

American Voices http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/05/american-voices/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/05/american-voices/#respond Tue, 03 May 2016 00:49:52 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=21432

This site has not endorsed a candidate in this presidential election, even as the primary season draws to a close. What’s more, the idea of investing your hope in a politician-however charismatic or sincere he may seem-is something that I instinctually and categorically reject. Even those who maintain that Trump is the best available option concede that he might very well be a huge disappointment if elected. However, his commitment to highlight the horrific toll illegal immigration has taken upon our society-and his boldness in spotlighting the human tragedy caused by our government’s cupidity -is praiseworthy, regardless of whatever reservations you might have about Donald Trump as a person or politician.

If the only thing his campaign accomplishes is making the rest of America aware of the names that our pathetic media have tried to efface from history, allowing them to learn who Jamiel Shaw Jr., Kathryn Steinle, Tony, Michael, and Matthew Bologna were and why they were senselessly murdered, then it can be counted a success-and more worthwhile than almost every Republican presidential campaign of the past 3 decades. Can you imagine a John Kasich, a Mitt Romney, or a Marco Rubio standing beside and embracing Jamiel Shaw Sr. in front of a room filled with national and international reporters? To ask the question is to answer it.

So, regardless of who you intend on voting for tomorrow-if you happen to live in Indiana-or in the future, should this race continue, listen to the words of Jamiel Shaw Sr. His is a voice that has never been heard on a national political stage until this election. It’s one that should be broadcast to every potential voter across this nation, not the mindless cacophony  and hatred of those who’ve colonized California.

The Great Crime (Rally For Justice This Sunday) http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/04/the-great-crime-rally-for-justice-this-sunday/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/04/the-great-crime-rally-for-justice-this-sunday/#respond Fri, 22 Apr 2016 15:38:34 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=20802 Orphanages - Merzifon (Turkey) Photographer: Tsolag Dildilian, Rights holder: Trustees of Anatolia CollegeAfter the end of World War I, Anatolia College sheltered 2,000 orphans.

Turkey’s historic brutality towards ethnic and religious minorities, particularly what was once a thriving, prosperous Armenian Christian community, is well known throughout the West. The notion that rational individuals with a basic historic awareness would be persuaded to accept Turkish revisionism and holocaust denial is absurd.  However, that hasn’t stopped the Turkish government from spending millions of dollars in an effort to cajole, coerce or bribe governments throughout the world, including our own, to ignore its complicity in one of the greatest crimes of the 20th century. Acclaimed scholars of the Middle East have repeated the lies spouted by fascistic Turkish demagogues as it relates to this subject, and we now have the Wall Street Journal running a full-page advertisement espousing the views of the men who orchestrated the virtual annihilation of the Armenian people.

That is why the Rally For Justice, to be held outside the Turkish Consulate in Los Angeles this Sunday, is necessary. It’s an opportunity to remind the the world that the descendants of those who survived the Armenian Golgotha have not forgotten the persecution of their ancestors, and will not remain silent while Turkey attempts to airbrush its crimes out of history, even as its current government commits monstrous new ones upon another demonized minority. I would urge all of this website’s followers who live in Southern California to attend, and those who cannot to spread the word. In the face of unspeakable lies, remaining silent is not an option.

Straight Talk (Bloggingheads Tackles Immigration) http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/04/straight-talk-bloggingheads-tackles-immigration/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/04/straight-talk-bloggingheads-tackles-immigration/#respond Thu, 07 Apr 2016 07:41:27 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=20552 Puck magazine (USA) Oct 3, 1888 cartoon re immigration. text is "The Republican Idea Of Protection - A High Tariff on the Monopolist's Wares, Free Entrance for Pauper Labor, and a Lock-Out for the American Workingman." copy in "Samuel Halperin Puck and Judge cartoon collection, 1879-1903" at George Washington U. Library, box 11 folder 10 Rjensen. 13:42, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

The facile nature of the immigration debate within this country can be infuriating to those of us who’ve invested time and effort into gaining a fuller understanding of this complex, interconnected series of issues. It often seems like we’ve living in the dystopian future outlined in the Neil Postman classic, Amusing Ourselves to Death. A world where linear thinking and the gathering of empirical evidence in order to buttress your argument are considered inconsequential, if not a hindrance, while the refraction of charged images and exploitation of emotional triggers are paramount. In that sense, the photo of Aylan Kurdi’s corpse being carried from the Mediterranean shore is emblematic of the type of discussion this subject engenders. Rife with emotionalism and moral preening, devoid of introspection, and remarkably fact and logic-free.

That’s why the chat between Professor Glenn Loury and economist George Borjas featured on Bloggingheads TV is such a breath of fresh air. They not only engage in a substantive examination of this topic-along with its profound implications for American society-but discuss why the rational, cost-benefit analysis that usually factors into any domestic policy debate is completely discarded when the subject turns to immigration. They honestly explore why the elites who have benefited from unfettered immigration from the developing world have stigmatized criticism of their agenda to the point where it is almost never broached in national conversation, and is taboo among Democratic Party incumbents and aspiring political leaders.

It’s worth watching in its entirety. I’m looking forward to your feedback.

Cathy’s World (Remembering An Iconoclast) http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/03/cathys-world/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/03/cathys-world/#respond Tue, 22 Mar 2016 08:08:27 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=20283 360px-Cathyseipp

Update: Cathy’s NRO archive

Some more memories, and photographs, of Cathy from her friends.

This month is bookended by two tragic anniversaries, which should serve as reflection points for not only the conservative movement but also the torpid, insular world of contemporary political journalism. While the untimely death of Andrew Breitbart has been discussed at length by numerous online news outlets-most of which would not exist but for his pioneering work in this field-yesterday marked the ninth year we’ve been without an equally brilliant American-by way of Winnipeg-iconoclast.

If Breitbart was a blowtorch to doctrinaire leftist, media-regurgitated nostrums, engulfing them in his incandescent fury,  then Cathy Seipp was a scalpel, skillfully and wittily excising blatant half-truths, misrepresentations and lies from the dominant, but usually misleading, media narrative. Both managed to thrive despite being embedded within what was essentially an alien culture, and led lives-horribly curtailed though they were-which illustrated the folly of suppressing your identity in order to be popular.

Last night I had the opportunity to reminisce about what made Cathy such a special person with her colleagues, friends, and family members. What I took away from the evening, beyond a keen appreciation for her generosity of spirit, was the realization that her defiance wasn’t simply a political philosophy. It was a defining feature of her character and something that exemplified who she was as a human being, which is why it had the ring of authenticity…it was true. Nowhere was this trait perceived more keenly than the manner in which she faced her own mortality, which allowed her to puncture an entirely different set of hobbling myths.

Cathy, through her wonderful, irreplaceable blog-whose name graces the post you’re reading-intellectually obliterated the concept that there is some rationale, cosmic or otherwise, for who does or does not get cancer. Even though this stupidity persists in some benighted quarters, no one could read one of Cathy’s posts and come to the conclusion that this was anything other than a horrible mistake, one which couldn’t have been avoided by finding a programmatic solution, e.g. don’t smoke, switch to a vegan diet, stop eating red meat. Cancer is so inexplicable that there is a 600 page-long book describing how the most well-trained oncologists and scientists on the planet can’t properly identify its causes. So the puritanical idea that there’s an inherent morality to this disease is absurd, and we can thank her for puncturing that baseless canard as well.

It’s sad to think that we have an Internet populated with inane listicles, turgid prose and simply godawful writing, but are missing some of the most wry, trenchant insights into human nature ever to grace the World Wide Web. Hopefully, the world will able to read these penetrating observations in some form in the future, and understand what it lost with Cathy Seipp’s passing. Her other great, and most lasting, legacy is her daughter. The store she put on family can’t be underestimated-as anyone who has read her work knows-and beyond her skill as a writer-which was peerless-this was her life’s signature achievement. Speaking with Maia last night gave me a deeper appreciation for how Cathy’s values, as well as her best personal qualities-particularly her wit and intellect-informed those she loved.

It’s something she undoubtedly would have taken great pride and satisfaction in, and which we should acknowledge in any remembrance of this great mother, friend and writer.
