10 Years Later: The 9/11 Commission Report’s Findings on Immigration 

As the nation prepares for the thirteenth anniversary of the most destructive foreign attack upon American soil, we need to remember what our government hasn’t done to ensure the security of our nation. Namely, secure our borders from infiltration by those who would do us harm. From the 6,000 foreigners here ostensibly as students whom the Department of Homeland Security cannot account for, to the global jihadist networks which have established beachheads on our southern border, our federal government has been completely unable and unwilling to implement the prophylactic measures necessary to prevent another terrorist assault on the scale of the 9/11 attacks.

What’s more, it has discontinued programs, such as the immigrant registration program known as NSEERS, which actually accomplished some of the goals outlined in the 9/11 Commission Report. That’s why the words of those directly impacted by the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the family members of those we lost on that day, should be heeded. To that end, I am linking to a poignant essay by Peter Gadiel published in the wake of Seal Team Six’s targeted killing of Osama Bin Laden, the man who ordered those attacks. As president of 9/11 Families for a Secure America, he has spent the better part of a decade lobbying and fighting to make sure that no American citizen experiences the same fate as his son, who perished in the flames of 9/11.

We need to remember that the best offense against international terrorism is a sound defense of the American homeland, which entails not TSA security theater or the encroachment upon Americans’ civil liberties, but the reassessment of the disastrous open borders policies that have led to so many unnecessary deaths since 2001. The best way to honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 men and women who perished on 9/11/01 is to fight unceasingly to make sure that no more Americans have to suffer the same fate in the future.

Most of you are well aware of the fact that this administration, despite its repeated attempts to airbrush its blemishes, has an absolutely atrocious record of immigration enforcement. However, a recent report documents just how negligent the federal government has been in ensuring the safety of American citizens. Nearly 70,000 criminal aliens have been released into the general population of the United States in the last year alone, according to an internal document from the Department of Homeland Security! 

Not surprisingly, the mainstream media has failed to report on yet another milestone in this White House’s campaign to completely dismantle the safeguards which protect the American public from crime, disease, and terrorism, among other gifts brought to us out of love. Thankfully, Senator Sessions is here to remind us of Barack Obama’s willingness prioritize his open borders ideology over the security of his fellow Americans.

Lest you think the open borders dogmatists who dictate Democratic Party policy on immigration have always been so adamantly opposed to the interests of Americans, Mark Levin explains how shifting demographics-along with the moral bankruptcy at the heart of the institutional left-forced the current Senate Majority Leader’s hand.  One former Democrat who has held firm is the former governor of Colorado, Dick Lamm, whose prescient warnings about the perils of unfettered mass immigration from the third world have been studiously ignored by people who can immunize themselves against the deleterious impact of their own ideas.

On the heels of another utterly dismal jobs report, it’s useful to examine just how deeply decades of unskilled, low wage immigration has impacted the United States, particularly those struggling to achieve parity in a severely economically depressed environment. The House Oversight Subcommittee on National Security held hearings on the glaring failure of the Obama administration to secure this nation’s borders and the dysfunctional nature of the Department of Homeland Security under Janet Napolitano’s leadership last month. You can hear Chairman Chaffetz’s opening remarks beginning at the 3:20 mark.  This is must-see viewing for anyone concerned about our country’s porous border, and this administration’s fundamental unwillingness to abide by its constitutional obligations.

That is why you need to make your opposition to this process known. FAIR has given you all the tools necessary to do just that. I urge you all to take advantage of the opportunity and tell John Boehner and his lackluster deputies that their careers are contingent upon their actions in the next two months. Specifically, whether or not they allow this disaster to be enacted into law.  It is time to kill this bill!

This bill is going to be rubber-stamped by the full Senate by the end of this week, despite that body’s profound ignorance of most of its key provisions. Burn up their phone lines!
