While it seems like every major story on the planet involves the Trump administration, things have actually been rather interesting in the rest of the world. Under the leadership of former ski bum Justin Trudeau, our neighbor to the north seems to be embracing some of the values that have made Europe so inhospitable to its indigenous population.

As Barbara Kay has explained both in print and other media, the proposed law by a Muslim MP targeting Islamophobia is simply a pretext to police inconvenient thought which happens to offend the political class. Keep in mind, the country was no bastion of free speech before discussion of this non-binding resolution discussed in the House of Commons of Canada. The long prosecution of Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant for dissident speech, as well as the demise of Free Dominion at the hands of inquisitor Richard Warman, attest to that.

The idea that this is simply a noble effort to protect Canada’s ruthlessly persecuted Muslim minority is belied by the robust effort that community has made to make acceptance of Islam by Canadian natives mandatory. Contrary to popular belief among the ruling class and its eager supplicants, Islamophobia is not a real issue. The terms itself is an ad hominem meant to distract from the disturbing frequency with which the adherents to Islam murder/intimidate those who are not.

If you want to experience what real fear looks like, I suggest you take a trip to Europe, where the paragons of virtue that run that continent have turned a glorious civilization into what increasingly looks like a garrison state. From the bullet-proof glass wall built around the base of the Eiffel Tower, announced in the wake of a respectful Egyptian’s jihadist machete attack at the Louvre and several thwarted Islamic terror attacks, to the fence being constructed between Latvia and Russia, to the Catholic pensioners being murdered by Saudi migrants, there are signs everywhere that Europe is under siege.

The fact that European governments are persecuting those who speak the truth about the wave of migrant crime merely serves to illustrate how warped the values which animate Europe’s ruling class are. That they continue to entrust with power, however ceremonial it may be, the same people who brought their continent to the brink of the abyss demonstrates how disconnected they are from the anger and discontent animating Europeans in France, Denmark, the Netherlands and throughout a continent being ravaged by undiluted multiculturalism, moral relativism, and perpetual open borders.

The fact that the vast majority of Europeans vehemently oppose further Muslim immigration is deemed irrelevant by those who want to transform the continent of Europe. Those who rule have made the replacement of Western peoples with Islamic settlers a priority, despite the intense suffering of the Middle East’s persecuted Christian minority, and woe to anyone who opposes this grand project. 2016 was not the end of the fight against this mentality-which has governed the West for over half a century-it was just the beginning.

Norbert Hofer has conceded defeat. It looks like Austria will be led, nominally, at least, by the far-left Green Party. 

The people of Italy, as well as their Austrian neighbors, make a momentous decision this week which will impact the future of Europe. While Italian voters will decide whether to invest their unelected, Europhile president with even more power, Austrians will decide whether they should elect someone who wants to preserve their heritage. Like the forces arrayed against Brexit and Donald Trump, those opposing the sovereignty of European nations are pouring everything they have into cementing the status quo.

To understand why these battles are so important, you need only look at some of the latest headlines to come out of Europe. One news story, in particular, is worth examining. The brutal rape and murder of an EU official’s daughter-who also helped care for displaced migrants-illustrates the extreme form of masochism embraced by the current European ruling class. The people who control Europe are willing to let their own children be sacrificed in order to maintain their increasingly untenable ideology.

This young woman’s death was a direct result of Europe’s failed experiment in multiculturalism, and she is far from the only victim. In fact, she’s not even the first idealistic European refugee worker to be murdered by one of these desperate migrants. This is a story that we will have to read over and over again unless and until Europeans assert their sovereignty and reclaim their birthright. It’s not the white man’s burden to save the third world any more than it’s his burden to intervene in endless sectarian conflicts in the Middle East which cause this unwanted exodus.

Today sees an extremely important referendum take place in Hungary, one of several nations in the Central European bloc committed to maintaining its traditional European character. Earlier this year, Brenda Walker wrote a fantastic summary of what’s at stake in this vote, including in her piece a transcript of the speech Prime Minister Orban delivered in defense of fundamental Enlightenment values. The primary one being, of course, the freedom to speak the truth fearlessly.

For it’s not only the character and culture of the West which is under relentless assault, but the very idea that one can speak honestly about the reverse colonization of Europe. If nations like Hungary and Poland do not stand up to the global effort to subjugate them to the rule of multiculturalism, then their people will find themselves in the same position as the English and the Germans-who now must fear midnight raids at the hands of a 21st century Stasi for merely speaking out against their nations’ destruction.

Of all the values under attack, this is the single most important-the cornerstone of the West and what distinguishes us from the replacement population the ruling class views as the New Europe. It’s no surprise that the nations once enslaved within the Iron Curtain, whose freedom was so hard-won and of so recent a vintage, would esteem it most highly and fight most tenaciously to preserve it.

Listening to BBC coverage of this referendum this weekend was absolutely sickening for anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of contemporary European history. The doublespeak required to portray patriotic Hungarians-the children and grandchildren of those who stayed behind after the Soviet vivisection of their nation-as heartless, reactionary xenophobes is simply staggering. Even as they portrayed the country as a terrible monoculture deficient in vibrant diversity-scandalized by the lack of “Islam” as a religious option on the Hungarian census-the imam interviewed by a correspondent, as well as the anchor himself, admitted that there was plenty of diversity within Hungary.

Slovaks, Germans, Bulgarians, Gypsies, Armenians, and Slovenes all call that country home, as do Greek Catholics, Roman Catholics, Calvinists and Jews. The problem is that this is not the type of diversity the powers that be desire. To them, diversity is simply a synonym for the dilution (abolition) of European and Western culture, not a word which has any inherent meaning connected to its standard definition.

This is the sort of lie that must be combated and defeated if we harbor any hope of preserving Western civilization. Hungarians have lived for too long at the mercy of larger, more powerful foreign powers. The monstrosity that is the rapidly eroding EU is simply one more authoritarian superstate intent on stripping them of their freedom. For all his many faults, Viktor Orban deserves credit for standing up in defense of his countrymen and more broadly speaking, Europe itself.

A few days ago we published a piece explaining then necessity of removing Angela Merkel from the levers of power in Germany. Even as the tentacles of George Soros attempt to brainwash Europeans into complaisantly accepting the ongoing invasion and subversion of their continent, the fact remains that it is European leaders-specifically Merkel-who are responsible for this unprecedented catastrophe. The only way to begin to solve this monumental problem is through the eviction of the woman chiefly responsible for its creation.

That’s why the stunning loss of Merkel’s CDU in home state-and its eclipse by the pro-German, anti-Islamist, just right Alternative for Germany-is such welcome news. Even as the usual organs for self-annihilation make the case that things are not as bad as they seem, the truth remains that this is a stunning rejection of their culturally suicidal ideology. Germans are tired of playing host to violent, frequently murderous, Islamic refugees. They’re sick of hearing stories justifying the sexual emergencies of Muslim pederasts. They’re aghast at the impunity with which Muslim rapists indulge their wicked appetites throughout their country.

This weekend’s election result is simply the latest confirmation of something which most rational human beings already knew. Namely, that the natives are restless. It’s time to recognize that the Visegrad Group was and is absolutely right, and that Angela Merkel’s time-after a decade and  half in which she has irrevocably altered her country for the worse-has drawn to a close.

Germany recently marked an ignominious anniversary, one which future generations of Germans-assuming there are any-will look back upon with shame and regret. I’m speaking, of course, about Angela Merkel’s decision to welcome over a million settlers from the Islamic world into the bosom of her country. The horrific consequences of this monumental decision have been documented on an hourly basis for those who care to look. The fact that a majority of the German population no longer believes she’s fit to serve as Chancellor, and that over two-thirds believe her decision to deconstruct their nation was a bad idea is not nearly as shocking as the significant minority of Germans who still want to proceed along this suicidal path.

Fortunately, there are rumblings of an internal rift within the party she relies upon to maintain power. Whether or not this amounts to anything, the need to dethrone Angela Merkel is clear to anyone who cares about the future of Western civilization. Even if Germany retook control of its borders tomorrow, a pre-existing demographic tidal wave threatens to permanently efface German culture as we’ve known it for millennia. However, if nothing is done to reverse the catastrophic policies pursued by current European leaders, Europe as a continent is going to collapse. The fact that Mama Merkel herself is complaining about the reluctance her Czech, Hungarian, and Polish counterparts have shown in embracing vibrant diversity is telling.

If these migrants, i.e. invaders, are so wonderful, then why would the Mother of Refugees want to “redistribute” them? Think about this for a minute. If the CEO of an extremely lucrative firm were to offer you thousands of stock options in his or her thriving company, would you be filled with resentment? Would you avail yourself of every opportunity to unload those stocks on neighbors and friends? Why is the woman who is singularly responsible for the disaster unfolding across the European continent reluctant to accept more of the men who she has repeatedly assured us constitute an unparalleled boon for the Germany economy and culture? Could it be that she has been deceiving the German public all this time? Might there be some very legitimate reasons why ordinary Germans don’t desire millions more unskilled, virtually unemployable refugees who are responsible for an unprecedented increase in criminal activity? Might vetting future army recruits for ISIS membership not be the most efficacious use of state resources?

These are all rhetorical questions, but they point to the necessity of politically removing the main source of Germany’s-and to a lesser extent, Europe’s-current misery. Regardless of who replaces Merkel, the fact that she needs to go is beyond dispute to any rational observer who wants to prevent Europe from descending into yet another Dark Age. Germany might not survive another year of their Chancellor’s glorious experiment.

For me, Nigel Farage, as well as tens of millions of people throughout the world, EU tears are a thing of beauty. Something to be relished. The European Project has failed and there’s absolutely nothing the army of myopic Eurocrats in Brussels can do to nullify that reality, although they are trying their damnedest. Conceding that your life’s work has been a complete and utter waste is undoubtedly a psychologically brutal decision. Until then, enjoy the lyrical voice of the man who broke the EU.

One of the more astonishing moments during last month’s lecture in favor of open borders occurred when I brought up the Rotherham outrages, which the speaker-perhaps out of ignorance-declared to be a “recent” phenomenon within Europe. Actually, the systemic kidnapping, rape, sex grooming, and beating of white, Christian, English girls by Muslim Pakistanis-and the coverup of these abuses by the political class and law enforcement-has been occurring for well over 2 decades. Although it’s seductive to believe the Islamic predation sweeping Europe is a recent phenomenon-an aberration caused by the current political turmoil in the Middle East-that is simply not the case.

This is a multigenerational problem, which will only become worse with each year that elapses, as more of these new settlers entrench themselves within European societies. That makes the need to speak out against these injustices all the greater, which is why I urge my British readers to sign this Change.org petition.

It seeks an independent public inquiry into the abuse condoned-and often facilitated-by Rotherham officials over the past twenty years. At a time when hardly any of the victims of these horrific abuses have been identified, and thousands of girls are presumably at risk of further sexual exploitation, it’s paramount that we exert pressure upon public officials, even those who have made their loyalties known.

Don’t let the suffering of the girls of Rotherham be in vain.

She has yet to capture the Nobel her acolytes undoubtedly seek, but Mama Merkel has won another award from the legacy media. This time, being named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. One of my Twitter followers made an astute speculation yesterday that this might be part of a concerted effort to smooth the way for Madame Hillary’s ascension to the White House. An attempt to demonstrate the leadership abilities of a strong, female ruler. Of course, her decisive action is synonymous with the obliteration of her nation’s Christian and European heritage, but that is precisely what endears her to the publisher and editors of publications such as Time.

The assisted suicide Europe’s Jack Kevorkian is forcing upon her subjects is precisely what makes her worthy of this honor and likely to be showered with more tributes, even as Muslims living in Germany beg for a respite from this self-imposed Middle Eastern invasion. The people who shape public opinion, whether they’re ensconced in academe or the lower Manhattan offices of a dying print publication, have values which are antithetical to the goals and desires of  rational patriotic citizens. The crowning of Frau Merkel by Time is simply the latest example of the philosophical chasm dividing the Western public from the people who presume to rule in their name, whether elected or not.

One of the enduring arguments between me and my anarcho-capitalist friends is the ideal immigration policy in a society where the state-and all of its many interventions-still, unfortunately, exists. While generally well-grounded philosophically, they seem to take an ad hoc, emotionally-laden, irrational approach to what is arguably the most important domestic policy issue of the 21st century. Often relying upon ad hominem attacks, or a misguided interpretation of the non-aggression principle, they insist upon defending the dissolution of borders, even if it means transgressing against the property and lives of people who do want to be enriched by third world migration.

A perfect illustration of this debating strategy occurred several days ago, when I was embroiled in a discussion with an acquaintance who insisted that Middle Eastern and African migrants had the universal human right to migrate, i.e. invade, Europe, and that any attempt to deter them was motivated by fascist, and presumably anti-libertarian, hatred. In other words,  these people were entitled to make a physical-often violent-incursion into a sovereign state-or several, in this case-extract the resources from the citizens of that state without their consent, and permanently settle in that state-again, without their consent-because libertarianism?

I’m not quite sure how exactly the German government and the EU uber-state granting permission to a multicultural army of invaders, without the consent of their citizens, constitutes a voluntary arrangement, but I was assured that I had no business telling these bedraggled refugees what they could do, and that if I didn’t like it, I could go to hell! Not exactly an argument you would expect from a person who purportedly prizes rationality over emotional outbursts, but not entirely unexpected from an open borders dogmatist. One wonders though why he doesn’t apply the same logic to the American occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq, which-initially, at least-had the support of the transitional governments in those states. I suppose if the Belgian government had given the go-ahead to the Imperial German Army during the outbreak of World War I, then the poor Belgians would have to acquiesce to the invasion of their country.

The stupendous idiocy of this chain of reasoning is evident to anyone who prizes logic above dogmatic adherence to unfettered immigration, but it eludes so many within the libertarian movement. That’s why Lew Rockwell’s speech before the Mises Circle comes as such a welcome relief. He meticulously debunks the most common libertarian arguments in favor of unrestricted migration within an unfree planet, where private property is diminished in even ostensibly free societies and universal suffrage encroaches upon fundamental personal freedoms, and demonstrates why the specious appeal of open borders thinking must be resisted by libertarians who truly value liberty, i.e. property and freedom of association.

Governments do not and can never grant rights, nor can they strip rights from individuals. This principle applies in war and peace, and there are no codicils for migrants, no matter how superficially appealing their exigencies might be.
