All too often the choices offered to the American public come down to differences of packaging. Would you rather vote for the interventionist, open borders, chubby white guy, or the interventionist, open borders, svelte Hispanic male? The media’s relentless denial of the facts and refusal to acknowledge alternative points of view only entrenches the failed policies that millions of Americans live with on a daily basis.

That’s why the question posed above-by one of the many victims of illegal alien crime-needs to be heard. You can listen to some of the other questions-none of which were broached during last night’s Republican presidential debate, it should be noted-by going to the website of the Center for Immigration Studies. It will give you a taste of what a debate might look like if we had media willing to be honest interrogators, instead of megaphones for their own preferred policy choices.

Mapping Dysfunction http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/11/mapping-dysfunction/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/11/mapping-dysfunction/#respond Sun, 08 Nov 2015 18:43:53 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=19488

One of the most useful methods for understanding our current immigration crisis is looking at the cumulative effect of our government’s endorsement, both tacit and explicit, of illegal immigration. The Center for Immigration Studies has developed a handy tool that helps individual citizens do this. Namely, their sanctuary cities map. It is a sobering portrayal of the lengths to which this country’s elected officials-particularly those in states like California and New York-have gone in order to placate a what is essentially a large cohort of criminals who are in this country without legal permission.

I urge you to check it out for yourselves, and to see where your locality fits into this problem. Hopefully, we’ll see significantly fewer in the years ahead.

Stolen Lives, November 2, 2015 http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/10/stolen-lives-november-2-2015/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/10/stolen-lives-november-2-2015/#respond Thu, 29 Oct 2015 14:40:42 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=19616

One of the critically important events we’ve highlighted on this site since its inception is National Remembrance Day, a nationwide commemoration of the lives taken by illegal aliens given sanctuary by our nation’s craven public officials. This coming Sunday will mark the 5th consecutive year the lives of these Americans will be honored, and we shall continue to highlight the danger we face if our government does not begin to value the lives and safety of its citizens.

For a brief overview of what this day is about, and what it means to the families of victims, I would recommend reading Jessica Vaughan’s account of the remembrance held in Massachusett’s last year. In spite of politicians’ singular desire to pander to criminals who come from abroad, and ignore the concerns of their ostensible constituents, we cannot give up our campaign or forget the names of the men and women who make this country what it is.

Endorsing Criminality http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/10/sanctioning-criminality/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/10/sanctioning-criminality/#respond Tue, 13 Oct 2015 16:46:05 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=19566 Kudos, once again, to the Center for Immigration Studies for providing us with an idea of how vast the safety net for illegal aliens is within the United States. CIS has published an illuminating backgrounder exploring the dramatic expansion of sanctuary city laws, which not only immunize criminal aliens but endanger the lives of ordinary American citizens. You can find it, as well as a map charting which parts of the country have these statutes on the books, here.

Mythbusting (Sanctuary Cities Kill) http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/07/mythbusting-sanctuary-cities-kill/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/07/mythbusting-sanctuary-cities-kill/#respond Thu, 30 Jul 2015 00:14:07 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=19236

The Center for Immigration Studies has provided the American public with a store of invaluable research explaining the dimensions of our current immigration problems, as followers of this site-perhaps more than others-are well aware. One of their tireless researchers is their Director of Policy Studies Jessica Vaughan, who testified before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security last week. The subject, naturally, was the continuing threat posed by sanctuary city laws-much like the one in San Francisco which contributed to the horrific death of Kathryn Steinle. I urge you all to read at least part of her testimony, which you can find here, along with a predictable exchange with the loathsome Luis Gutierrez.

South of the Border http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/06/south-of-the-border/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/06/south-of-the-border/#respond Sun, 21 Jun 2015 04:43:59 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=19101 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Usumacinta.jpg

To the surprise of very few, the Associated Press reports that over an 8 month period Mexico deported more Central Americans than the United States. Take particular note of this passage:

In most cases, Mexico holds migrants only long enough to verify their nationalities, and quickly bundles them aboard buses to take them back to their home countries.”

That is not the case in the United States, where most who claim “credible fear” can remain pending an asylum court case, as long as the Border Patrol can’t prove the person has a criminal record.

Combined with the Obama administration’s complete abandonment of worksite enforcement, the imminent resettlement of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees, and its omnipresent threat to completely disregard the law, this latest revelation makes it perfectly clear that this White House holds American citizens in contempt and does not care about their thoughts in the slightest.

Is it any wonder that, in addition to having a Congress which is universally loathed, we have a President of staggering unpopularity? Where is Tom Tancredo when we need him?

Next In Line http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/03/next-in-line/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/03/next-in-line/#comments Sun, 15 Mar 2015 17:06:52 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=18695 Author: Gulbenk 30 December 2012, 15:34:35 Northlake area - DeKalb County, Georgia

One of the central conceits of open borders fetishists is the assumption that illegal aliens are somehow being denied equal treatment. Equal to whom is the question which is never addressed, let alone answered satisfactorily, and it’s easy to see why. To treat those who have broken the law-many laws, often repeatedly-on par with law-abiding citizens or resident aliens, or those attempting to immigrate to this country lawfully, is to necessarily discriminate against the rest of us in a spectacular fashion.

The end result of this hypocrisy and inequality in enforcing the law can be seen in its starkest form in the state of California, whose decline 4th generation native Victor Davis Hanson has magisterially chronicled. Now, Jessica Vaughan of the Center for Immigration Studies has produced a fascinating backgrounder on the obstacles those waiting in line face because of the USCIS decision to prioritize DACA cases, thanks to the extraconstitutional whim of President Obama.

Evidently, some people are more equal than others. At least, according to this White House, which never fails to accommodate those who are least-deserving of Americans’ good will.

Countering The Open Borders Narrative http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/01/countering-the-open-borders-narrative/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/01/countering-the-open-borders-narrative/#respond Wed, 21 Jan 2015 07:02:29 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=18433

An alternative to the nationally televised deception known as President Obama’s State of the Union address, the words of Mo Brooks are precisely what Congress needs as this administration continues its unprecedented assault upon the Constitution. You can find the rest of CIS’s briefing for the 114th Congress here.

Catch, Release, Ignore http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/01/catch-release-ignore/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/01/catch-release-ignore/#respond Sat, 03 Jan 2015 07:22:27 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=18299

For those of you who were wondering if there were any media outlets reporting real stories, vis-a-vis immigration enforcement policy, Mark Krikorian has some good news. There are journalists who take their jobs seriously, and they work for Houston’s KPRC, which has broadcast its investigation into the response rate of unaccompanied minors ordered to appear in immigration courts after their initial release from American custody. As it turns out, less than ten percent of the population afforded this opportunity took advantage of it. It seems that being an illegal alien in a country whose government adamantly refuses to enforce immigration laws is more appealing than open borders sophists would have us believe.

Go figure.

Legislative Oversight http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/12/legislative-oversight/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/12/legislative-oversight/#respond Thu, 04 Dec 2014 05:47:50 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=18174 442px-Logo_of_C-SPAN.svg

The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing earlier this week exploring Barack Obama’s recent executive action-a policy that the fourth estate’s deliberately misleading reportage has made even more confusing than its patently unconstitutional nature would ordinarily warrant. Thankfully, C-SPAN broadcast the proceedings in their entirety. You can watch the full hearing on C-SPAN’s website.

With each passing day, as more details behind this brazen power grab are exposed, the nation realizes the contempt with which this administration, and its toadies in Congress, holds the American public
