According to a recently published study, over 27 billion dollars in federal grants and direct payments are awarded to sanctuary cities, although that figure probably doesn’t take into account the recent designations of the Borough of Prospect Park and Cincinnati as such. One need only recall the names of Adrienne Shelly, Jamiel Shaw Jr. and Sarah Root in order to grasp why protecting the identities and safety of illegal aliens is such a dire threat to American citizens, and why President Trump’s decision to target these scofflaws is necessary.

In the case of California, which is ground zero for the erasure of our national identity, the means by which law and security can be restored are manifold, including the withdrawal of federal funds and the possible breakup of activist federal courts. When the leader of the upper chamber of the California legislature brags about how many members of his family are illegal aliens the idea of ignoring this ongoing, man-made disaster is simply not an option. The insanity that began in that state has already spread to others, including New York, which is once again considering giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens. This is the same state where, Democratic protestations to the contrary, the real threat of voter fraud is swept under the rug, unlike in Texas, where a Mexican national is currently being prosecuted for illegal voting.

That is why the confirmation of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General-after weeks of obstruction and slander by Senate Democrats-is welcome news. We need an advocate arguing on behalf of American interests against the bureaucracy and judiciary, which are committed to delegitimizing our culture and erasing our borders. This isn’t simply a fight against jihadists and criminal aliens, but a campaign to restore the primacy of American interests within our society. Even though it’s a minority position in the nation’s capital, the fact that influential members of Congress are planning to work with the Trump administration to roll back the unprecedented wave of immigration we’ve experienced over the past half-century is a good sign.

Whether it’s the American worker replacement program known as the H-1B visa, or the critical pressure placed upon health care and education, the burdens imposed by our current immigration system are overwhelming. The grim reality is much different from the glossy fabrications and fantasies spun by corporate America, much less the Democratic Party. A party which maintains that gay rights is somehow compatible with the world’s most anti-gay religion, an intellectually incoherent stance you must hold in order to remain a member in good standing. A party which recruits activists who actively encourage the violent suppression of speech inimical to their warped ideology.

This is the dawning of a new era, and we need to start using the tools at our disposal to begin the reversal of decades of damage. However imperfect the vessel, Donald Trump is at the forefront of this evolution.

Moving Forward (Jeff Sessions Is Approved) http://american-rattlesnake.org/2017/02/breaking-news-4/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2017/02/breaking-news-4/#respond Wed, 01 Feb 2017 19:52:12 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=24274 450px-Jeff_Sessions_official_portrait

The Senate Judiciary Committee has approved the nomination of Jeff Sessions on a party-line vote, which means his nomination will be voted upon by the full U.S. Senate. This as the Democrats in that body continue their unprecedented obstruction of President Trump’s Cabinet-level appointees.

As if the President’s first week in office weren’t interesting enough, he has decided to fire Attorney General Sally Yates, who had been the placeholder until Jeff Sessions is confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Or so we thought. The proximate cause of her dismissal was her refusal to defend the legal actions of the current administration. It should be noted that the obstruction of Sessions was part of a concerted strategy by Democrats to thwart the domestic and foreign policies of the incoming administration. As if this titanic political struggle weren’t enough to consume the 24 hour news cycle, President Trump is set to announce his first Supreme Court nominee later tonight.

We do live in interesting times.

Update: Ken Blackwell explains the cultural genesis of media hatred for Senator Sessions.

Roy Beck and Numbers USA make the case for Jeff Sessions assuming the role of  Attorney General.

Sen. Sessions’ commitment to the most vulnerable members of our national community is marked by the Career Grade of A+ that he has earned on our NumbersUSA Worker-Protection Immigration Gradecards. The data in the latest National Academy of Sciences report revealed that our un-reformed immigration policies are most costly to our country’s most vulnerable citizens, disproportionately Black and Hispanic Americans. In this regard, Sen. Sessions has been their protector.

Addendum: Albert Turner Jr., the son of the man prosecuted by Senator Sessions has endorsed his nomination

Drain The Swamp http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/11/drain-the-swamp/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/11/drain-the-swamp/#respond Wed, 23 Nov 2016 19:21:03 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=23692

A pick that threatens all the work done by Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch.

It seems like racial arsonist and world-class grifter Al Sharpton has stumbled upon the truth of the matter. The left’s opposition to Jeff Sessions is not driven by a genuine fear of how he’ll approach civil rights issues-almost all of these objections are based upon falsehoods or distortions, and the primary accusers have suspect characters, to say the least-but is based upon the realization that he’ll attend to the rank corruption which has permeated the Justice Department over the past 8 years.

Senator Sessions is not a racist, and has never been a racist. The man now being slandered by cultural Marxists and those who traffic in racial calumnies is the same person who desegregated schools and put the KKK out of business in his home state. What’s occurring now is the quintessential Borking, which makes sense when you realize that Jeff Sessions was the first Republican judicial nominee to be Borked, even before Judge Bork himself. The only problem is that this tactic no longer works, as the election of Donald Trump to the presidency illustrates.

The public can no longer be intimidated into accepting bien pensant opinion or swallowing blatant lies about patriotic, normal American citizens. They realize implicitly that the stated reasons for these attacks are untruths. They’ve watched as the Obama administration has used its remaining time to force small, peaceful towns to acquiesce to the whims of Muslims and hire non-citizens to enforce American law. They’ve seen a Department of Justice willing to collude with the husband of a presidential candidate, a former President himself, under criminal investigation. They’ve watched hundreds die in the United States and Mexico as a result of this White House’s gun trafficking to Mexican drug cartels.

Leftists should be afraid, but not for the reasons they’ve outlined in hysterical cable news jeremiads over the past week. They should be fearful because Jeff Sessions is the person entrusted to drain the swamp that the Justice Department has become under President Obama.

It’s difficult to keep track of developments on the Brexit front, as news seems to be breaking nearly every minute. However, I’d like to provide you with some of the more useful observations about what has occurred in the UK and across the globe since Thursday. One of the most important questions, of course, is what happens next. As others have pointed out, this was a non-binding referendum and there is theoretically nothing preventing a Europhile political class from simply ignoring the will of the people. In fact, that is precisely the course some Labour MPs are suggesting Westminster take. Although these sentiments won’t be voiced publicly by many, the contempt the Labour Party’s political representatives  have for the people they purportedly represent is unmistakable. Nothing illustrates this more vividly than the campaign to sack Jeremy Corbyn for being insufficiently supportive of an institution that over 17 million Britons detest.

And while Hillary comforts herself by repeating the mantra that America is not the United Kingdom, the truth is that political fallout from Brexit will be felt throughout the globe, which includes the United States. What occurred in Great Britain is a stunning, remarkable defeat of the global left-one which everyone on the right, wherever you live, should rejoice in-but it’s even more significant than that. It’s a defeat for the political philosophy of globalism, the insidious idea that we would all be better off as deracinated cosmopolites stripped of our cultural patrimony-including our God-given right to speak our minds, even if it offends the religion of grievance.

Those who’ve profited from this philosophy are rightly terrified, and their hysteria will only increase as they realize that they are completely unequipped to roll back this revolution. A revolution that, as both Peter Hitchens and Daniel Greenfield have pointed out, was led by a new coalition that consists of disenfranchised Old Labour and Conservative voters. Individuals whose will has been, and continues to be, ignored by their representatives, but who have finally found their voice. Perhaps that voice is unsettling to toffs like Owen Jones because it sounds like Tommy Robinson-or a close approximation thereof-but it’s the voice of Great Britain and it needs to be respected.

This is a country which has just accomplished something extraordinary. It has begun to crack the foundation of soft totalitarianism which has governed Europe for nearly half a century. It started the restoration of freedom and self-government which has been the hallmark of the United Kingdom for nearly 8 centuries. Even those who left the UK when the European Project appeared invincible can take pride in what their countrymen have accomplished. This is an historic moment, and it cannot be wasted. The British have reaffirmed their heritage, it’s time for the rest of the world to follow.

Super Tuesday News Roundup http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/03/super-tuesday-news-roundup/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/03/super-tuesday-news-roundup/#respond Tue, 01 Mar 2016 05:04:46 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=20144 Author: Jp16103

The most notable development leading up to today’s pivotal primaries is, of course, the raft of prominent Donald Trump endorsements, including those of former governor Jan Brewer and immigration stalwart Senator Jeff Sessions. Why the latter decided to endorse Trump rather than his Texas colleague is open to debate, although Mark Krikorian-a Cruz supporter-has an interesting theory.

The New York Times has published 2 stories of interest to those of us in the immigration reform camp, focusing on the 2 main competitors-at the moment-for the Republican nomination. One describes the sub rosa pressure campaign initiated by the Gang of 8 against conservative radio talkers who were skeptical of embracing their amnesty proposal in 2013. You can read the NYT account here, and the more complete-and presumably, honest-description of the Rush-GO8 conclave by Mr. Limbaugh himself on his website. It should be noted that if the Times is attempting to bolster the candidacy of Marco Rubio, a la John McCain during his past presidential runs, this is impeccably poor timing on its part.

Then again, the Old Gray Lady might simply be trying to practice the craft of journalism-however ineptly-during this contentious  primary season. It also has published a tantalizing account of what its editor claims is Donald Trump softening his immigration stance in an off-the-record conversation with Times’ staffers. One wonders what the significance of “off the record” information is if you then disclose hints of that content to the general public. Also, one has to wonder whether Trump’s response mirrored his answer to a presumably similar set of questions posed by Byron York.

National Review-the anti-Trump conservative publication of record for some-has published some interesting pieces on the various Trump-related controversies that have cropped up recently, including a fascinating piece on Trump University, as well as a much less compelling article about the Donald’s use of foreign nationals to work on his construction projects. Surprisingly, NR has also published an essay by its former editor John O’Sullivan-currently a Ted Cruz backer-explaining the provenance of the Trump phenomenon. It should be required reading for those Republicans positing a GOP crackup.

Update: Rush asks a pertinent question.

For those of you who were pinning your hopes on Luis Guttierez’s gringo pal, we have some bad news for you. As the inestimable Senator Sessions explains in the video above, and Mickey Kaus has pointed out in meticulous detail on his Twitter account since this accord was reached, we are screwed. In addition to being atrocious on its face, the omnibus also entrenches the worst aspects of this administration’s horrific immigration policy, including funding for its refugee resettlement plan, support for its illegal administrative amnesty, and an expansion of the notorious H1B visa program.

In short, a complete and utter disaster. Thank you, House Freedom Caucus.
