One of the more interesting races to watch this November will be the Texas gubernatorial contest,  which features the dream candidate of feminist progressives, State Senator Wendy Davis. Although a fundraising dynamo and icon for those who support expansive access to abortion, the chances that she will actually emerge victorious from this race are increasingly negligible, as self-inflicted wounds doom a candidacy that many already considered-with some justification-a hopeless cause.

Even as the Davis boomlet evaporates, however, the project to turn Texas blue proceeds apace. A key part of that plan involves the national political aspirations of a man our readers are familiar with, current Hud Secretary Julian Castro. Despite having a resume as thin as that of the man who appointed him-which might work to his advantage in a presidential race if the past is any guide-Secretary Castro has an extensive record of making incendiary comments on the subjects of race and ethnicity. Naturally, for an ambitious Democratic politician, Castro espouses the usual litany of open borders cliches that have become old hat by this point in time. However, the reasons behind his support for the demographic transformation of this country have never been explored by a news media eager to promote the aims of a young, telegenic, Chicano politician who supports open borders policies.

That’s why the piece written by Charles Johnson for Breitbart.com comes as such a welcome relief. An antidote to the tireless and tiresome propaganda from the usual bloviating heads, this essay describes in excruciating detail-using Julian Castro’s own words to damn him-why he is an unabashed radical devoted to the anti-American goals of La Raza. We urge you to read it all!

The Washington Post makes a glaring concession to reality. We’re not sure if this signifies the mainstream media’s acknowledgement that immigration reform, i.e. legislative amnesty, isn’t going to be enacted during this session of Congress, or if they’re merely spiking the football. However, we’re glad to see some members of the open borders brigade admit that the GOP’s attempts to ingratiate itself with Hispanic voters by rolling over on this issue is not only counterproductive but suicidal. The sooner this pernicious myth is put to rest, the sooner we’ll be able to have a productive discussion about immigration, something that has eluded us for decades.

The newest political gambit by the House Republican leaders is a concrete illustration of just why the American public is souring on the Republican Party brand.

No sacrifice to meaningless, gestural politics is too great for the open borders demagogues of this nation. Much like their vaunted leader, they know that emotion-not reason-is their key to victory. Phil Ochs had these folks pegged.

It doesn’t look good for the Grand Old Party. Pat Buchanan explains.

As sundry pundits, political consultants, and elected officials search for answers in the wake of the GOP’s decisive election loss, it’s worth noting that while the Republican Party yielded ground in the Senate, House of Representatives, and various state legislatures-to say nothing of its presidential nominee’s defeat-there were several important races where immigration patriots won, or open borders shills were soundly beaten. Overall, it was a much better night for those believe in responsible immigration policies than the reelection of El Presidente might initially suggest.

Contrary to the self-serving narrative constructed by professional Hispanics and those eager for an endless supply of government-bankrolled cheap labor, the Republican Party’s losses this November did not stem from its allegedly rigid opposition to illegal immigration, as the resounding defeat of  an anti-SB 1070 exemplar in the state of Arizona demonstrates. This is not so startling when you consider that 62% still believe that stopping illegal immigration is extremely important, according to a post-election Gallup survey.

Although Hispanic voters overwhelmingly favored the reelection of President Barack Obama, and increased his margin of victory in several densely populated blue states,  they did not play a decisive role in any of the major swing states. Of course, as the rest of the country inexorably turns into California, that could very well change in future presidential elections. However, the one way to ensure that those races are not competitive is by enacting those schemes which so many in the Republican Party believe-or purport to believe- will ingratiate them to Hispanic voters.

In order to understand why this is a fatal delusion, I recommend you read a lengthy and data rich, but nonetheless illuminating, post by Tino Sanandaji on his Super-Economy blog which delineates in painstaking detail why Hispanics are natural Democrats. His analysis, unlike the siren song of open borders Republicans such as Linda Chavez and rootless, neoconservative ideologues like Jennifer Rubin is grounded in empirical evidence, not self-deluding fantasies.

We’ve trod this ground many times before at American Rattlesnake, but it’s worth revisiting because the same insipid arguments for embracing amnesty-which are as ethically obtuse as they are intellectually bankrupt-will be marshaled once Congress reconvenes in 2013, if not sooner. You need to be armed with factual, incontrovertible evidence that demonstrates why embracing the path of amnesty is a strategy of failure, for the nation, for future generations saddled with non-working age immigrants partaking of our vast welfare state, and for a party which seems intent upon legislating itself out of existence.

This is a fantastic interview of Congressman Steve King-conducted last month after the President’s unconstitutional administrative amnesty-which I urge you all to listen to. Rep. King is one of the few members of Congress willing to stand up to Barack Obama’s subversion of the legislative process. A dogged opponent of multiculturalism, King is exceptional in his willingness to resist the tide of political correctness in all its multifarious manifestations.

One of the more obnoxious political phenomena this election cycle is the continued fixation of the media upon placing voters into specific taxonomic, ethnic boxes. Despite all evidence to the contrary, the press corps insist upon classifying all potential voters who hail from Spanish-speaking countries into the same amorphous, unitary bloc, regardless of the variant cultures and/or beliefs present within this “group.” A good antidote to this blinkered perspective is provided by Fausta Wertz, a respected blogger and writer who focuses primarily upon Latin American politics. She’s gone to the trouble of republishing her 2006 essay which illuminates the misconceptions that have gone into creating what she describes as the Hispanic mirage.

The only way to get past an illusion is to dispel it, and the best way to do so is by discovering the truth.

They only get recycled, especially if those ideas were conceived on Capitol Hill by people who have no interest in serving their ostensible constituents. We were all wondering when our president would return to the Democrat Party’s favorite demagogic talking point. Well, we finally have our answer.

Despite the seeming patina of bipartisanship reflected by this meeting’s invitees-open borders devotees from the Republican as well as the Democratic parties were invited to this elaborately orchestrated charade-there was no disguising what the true agenda of this “gathering” was. Nor was there any doubt as to why its participants decided to take part in an exercise that most impartial observers view as a futile endeavor in the newly constituted, strongly pro-enforcement Republican Congress.

Our own mayor, Michael Bloomberg, desperately wants to deflect attention from his flailing, bordering on disastrous-no to mention completely unwarranted-third term in office, while former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has his sights set on something more ambitious. Namely, the European Union presidency. Their counterparts in Mr. Obama’s party, on the other hand, want to cement their party’s status as the one political vehicle in this country that panders exclusively to Hispanic voters, even if that means embracing a policy that rewards lawlessness, ensures future waves of illegal immigration, and compromises our national security, all while alienating hard-working American citizens and legal immigrants from their own society. 

Make no mistake, this meeting was not about policy but politics, and politics practiced in the most naked, exploitative manner possible. Barack Obama is not delusional, and the notion that he believes a meeting with the likes of Al Sharpton and Michael Bloomberg will convince Republicans in the House of Representatives to abandon one of the stances most responsible for their newfound majority is patently absurd. Therefore, the only logical conclusion is that this stagecraft is intended to bolster President Obama’s flagging support among likely voters within the Latino community. 

The good news, at least from our perspective, is that this bit of political chicanery does not appear to be working with its intended audience. The (very) early reviews are in, and it does not look pretty for the President. The Phoenix New Times, a radical-left open borders rag,  mercilessly panned this gathering of open borders advocates, focusing its ire specifically on what it views as Obama’s overly harsh and contentless rhetoric regarding his proposed comprehensive reform. This, in tandem with the ultimately empty-yet still provocative-posturing of Congressman Luis Gutierrez add up to a huge political problem for the President with just one year until the 2012 presidential election. 

Whether he can find a way to square the circle, i.e. retain his heretofore solid support among Hispanic voters without accomplishing anything substantive to palliate his most rabid, pro-amnesty base, is something that remains to be seen.

As many of you know, Ted Hayes is one of this country’s bravest combatants in the struggle to restore our nation’s heritage by reasserting control over our borders on behalf of American citizens. The host of America’s Black Shield, Hayes is a tireless campaigner for immigration enforcement and a staunch defender of Governor Jan Brewer and the state of Arizona in their fight to preserve SB 1070.

This would be praiseworthy in and of itself even if Mr. Hayes did not testify against illegal immigration so boldly in the largest sanctuary city in the nation, Los Angeles, which is governed by a mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, who spares no effort in sheltering and extolling the virtues of illegal aliens residing in his municipality.

Now, courtesy of Judicial Watch, we’ve received the deeply disturbing news that a racist, ostensibly pro-Hispanic, pro-illegal alien organization has threatened Hayes with physical harm-up to and including death-for testifying against a Maryland bill that would subsidize the tuition of prospective illegal alien college students in that state.

Unfortunately, the person who uploaded the video has decided to take it down. Therefore, you can’t see the venomous hatred expressed by these demagogues for yourself. However, that hasn’t stopped others from reporting upon this stunning example of violent racism gone viral. This incident is particularly poignant because Ted Hayes has been one of the chief forces in Los Angeles highlighting the ongoing strife between Hispanics-including many illegal aliens-and African-Americans. Whether the media chooses to highlight this latest instance of ethnic intimidation by cultural supremacists is still up in the air, but I doubt they will, considering the stark implications it has for their open borders agenda.

Those of us who support Mr. Hayes and his efforts at reclaiming his city and our country should spread word of this attempt to to suppress his attempts at speaking freely and honestly about America’s immigration problems. You can also support him by listening to his show on the Liberty and Freedom Network, from which America’s Black Shield is broadcast on a regular basis. The words of Ted are needed now more than ever.
