The American victims our our government’s reckless immigration policies speak out. Watch the complete hearing live. That’s some nice lying, Congresswoman Lofgren.

Guns Blazing http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/01/guns-blazing/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2016/01/guns-blazing/#respond Wed, 06 Jan 2016 05:36:37 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=19930 240px-US-AlcoholTobaccoFirearmsAndExplosives-Seal.svg

This administration’s strange means of implementing legislation, i.e. enacting it through administrative edicts which bypass the opposition of Congress, is not limited to immigration matters. The recent rules enacted by Barack Obama regarding gun sales are merely an extension of the distinctly unilateral policymaking which has been a hallmark of his presidency. Although, as Charles Cooke notes, the practical impact of this decision will be minimal, it does highlight the disturbing tendency of this White House to conflate its will with the will of the people, regardless of any political, legal, or Constitutional obstacles this approach poses.

It also demonstrates the futility, in some respects, of voting for Republican candidates for high office. As a reminder, here are the 10 Republican members of the U.S. Senate who voted for Attorney General Loretta Lynch, who will presumably be tasked with enforcing these new regulations. Here’s a link to an article explaining the ATF’s guidance on these rules, which-as the author points out-is either futile or unlawful. Unfortunately, that will serve as a fitting epitaph for this administration in the years to come.

The Great Debate (Malice vs. Woods) http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/12/the-great-debate-malice-vs-woods/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/12/the-great-debate-malice-vs-woods/#respond Sat, 12 Dec 2015 19:20:11 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=19811

It’s always good to step away from the issues, grave though they may be, which dominate the news cycle and examine how we arrived here as a nation. To that end, I’m sharing a gripping debate between author Michael Malice and historian and broadcaster Tom Woods which took place at the General Society Library recently, under the auspices of Junto. Feel free to contribute, whether you believe Alexander Hamilton to be a villain or this nation’s savior, in the comments section below. You can also listen to a post mortem on the debate which occurred on the Tom Woods Show.

Turn Off The Spigot (Action Alert To Stop Refugee Resettlement) http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/09/turn-off-the-spigot-action-alert-to-stop-refugee-resettlement/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/09/turn-off-the-spigot-action-alert-to-stop-refugee-resettlement/#respond Wed, 30 Sep 2015 04:05:18 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=19489

As most of you know, Congress does much more than simply ignore this administration’s unconstitutional, illegal executive amnesties. It’s also responsible for funding the federal budget, including such items as refugee resettlement. Once again, this White House has decided to unilaterally rewrite federal immigration policy and expand the number of refugees imported into the United States by 10,000. Your voices-in opposition to this disastrous policy-need to be heard! To that end, Californians for Population Stabilization have created a petition demanding that Congress cut off the funding for this proposal before these Syrian migrants step foot on American soil.

Thousands of Syrians already enjoy Temporary Protected Status, i.e. indefinite amnesty, as a result of this administration. The war in Syria is insoluble, but we can prevent a host of problems visiting this country in the future through the simple step of Congress saying “no” to Barack Obama and John Kerry.

The father of Jamiel Shaw asks some pointed, very disturbing questions which this administration and Congress have yet to answer.

John Boehner Gets Tough http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/02/john-boehner-gets-tough/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2015/02/john-boehner-gets-tough/#respond Thu, 12 Feb 2015 05:44:13 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=18552 Sort of.

Unmannerly language aside, I doubt that the Speaker will be doing much heavy lifting in this regard. Amnesty is one mud sandwich Mr. Boehner actually enjoys eating.

K Street’s Man On Capitol Hill http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/09/k-streets-man-on-capitol-hill/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/09/k-streets-man-on-capitol-hill/#respond Tue, 30 Sep 2014 20:29:01 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=17793 U.S. President Barack Obama is greeted by Speaker of the House John Boehner before delivering the 2011 State of the Union Address. If there’s anything you can count on in Washington politics, it’s that Speaker John Boehner will put his foot into mouth, usually during or prior to a critically important election cycle. So it is with his recent comments regarding amnesty, which he pledged to enact at some point during the next session of Congress. A more diplomatic, or less stupid, man might try to down-play his support for a universally loathed policy right before conservative Republicans head to the polls, but not Mr. Boehner. I suppose the lure of yet more Zuckerberg cash is too tempting to restrain his idiotic outbursts, re: immigration, for more than a fortnight.

And they wonder why Republicans in Congress are so viscerally unpopular with the American public. We who have been paying attention to the utterances of people like Congressman Boehner and Paul Ryan, on the other hand, are not confused at all.

Stop The Boehner-Cantor-Obama Amnesty http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/04/17040/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/04/17040/#respond Sat, 19 Apr 2014 22:38:32 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=17040 This past week’s immigration theater confirm what we have been saying for years. Namely, that the House GOP leadership can’t be trusted to protect the interests of the American public, especially when they conflict with its corporate benefactors. Even as Boehner’s attack dogs from silicon valley are unleashed against his own members who dare to stand up for their constituents, his chief deputy in the House of Representatives continues to peddle the spurious line that he disagrees with Obama over immigration reform, i.e. legislative amnesty.

Thankfully, as the invaluable Mickey Kaus points out, there is something you can do about this! You can find out what that is below the fold.

Who might stop it and why:

McKeon– He may not want to be remembered, in retirement, for starting a donnybrook that costs Republicans seats. His office phone number is 202 225 1956. The Armed Services Committee is 202 225 4151.

Goodlatte might defend his committee’s jurisdiction (as he did last year). Don’t count on it, though. Goodlatte’s been going along with the amnesty plans of the House leadership, expressing support for some kind of deal. His phone numbers are 202 225 5431 (his office) or 202 225 3951 (Judiciary Committee).

–McCarthy: He’s obviously scared of something, otherwise he’d have been pushing openly for amnesty instead of operating through surrogates.  Maybe he can be more scared.  His office is 202 225 2915.

Boehner:  202 225 0600 (Speaker’s office), 202 225 6205 (his regular member’s office). Boehner probably wants another term as Speaker, in which case he is susceptible to pressure not to betray his Hastert Rule pledge. But he may retire–especially if Republicans don’t regain the Senate, in which case it might make more sense to focus on …

Cantor: Cantor wants to be Speaker one day– one day soon. He would probably stop his amnesty campaign instantly if he were persuaded it would scuttle his Speakership chances by convincing a large segment of his caucus that he’s a pointless sack of ambition an unreliable conservative.  His numbers are 202 225 2815 or 202 225 4000.

Members are, as always, surprisingly sensitive to telephone calls…

Coulter vs. Kaus at CPAC http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/03/coulter-vs-kaus-as-cpac/ http://american-rattlesnake.org/2014/03/coulter-vs-kaus-as-cpac/#respond Sun, 09 Mar 2014 14:08:21 +0000 http://american-rattlesnake.org/?p=16850 Ann_Coulter_2012_Shankbone

It turns out that the Coulter-Kaus debate was broadcast on one of  C-SPAN’s many outlets yesterday, despite the unofficial CPAC ban on discussion of the most important domestic political issue. You can watch the full debate here. In addition to covering the political costs of amnesty and the legally and constitutionally dubious nature of the Obama administration’s administrative amnesty, they also explore the Democratic and Republican presidential fields and the political and economic consequences of Obamacare, as well as entitlement reform.
