21st Century Heterodoxy

Ben Carson At CPAC. Author: Gage Skidmore

Ben Carson has outlined the broad strokes of his immigration plan. Like some of the other proposals by Dr. Carson which lie outside  his field of expertise, it is muddled, at best. Unfortunately, it’s also redolent of the Chamber of Commerce/Wall St. Journal/Bush family exaltation of cheap labor at the expense of American workers.  The idea of considering the welfare of American citizens subservient to the interests of corporate lobbyists is not alien to would-be presidential candidates. However, the fact that someone who rightly prides himself on his patriotism gives such short shrift to the concerns of Americans on this issue simply demonstrates how pervasive the open borders ideology is among our leaders and potential leaders.

You simply can’t bill yourself as a maverick while simultaneously holding the most conventional, elitist perception of the single greatest domestic issue of our time. It’s untenable, and it’s going to be a problem for Dr. Carson in the next GOP presidential debate.
