The headline of this story is a bit misleading in the sense that Lamar Alexander never stopped embracing amnesty, despite the labored attempts to obfuscate his position throughout his primary campaign. If anything has been demonstrated by this latest round of primary victories by open borders Republican incumbents, it’s the toxicity of the amnesty label. The fact that his victory, like that of Senator Pat Roberts, was an extremely narrow win against a field of candidates also proves that supporting mass, third world immigration to this country and disregard for immigration enforcement is not the vote-getter that the GOP leadership would have us believe.
If history is any guide, don’t expect the lesson to be absorbed.
