Find Luck On St. Patrick’s Day

Legend has it that Patricius, the English ex-slave who spread the Christian gospel throughout Ireland, drove the snakes from his adopted land. Although probably apocryphal in nature, this tale served as the template for the yearly celebration of a saint who is synonymous with the Emerald Isle. Now, those of you living in or around Philadelphia have the opportunity to embrace an animal rather than shun it, courtesy of the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society. PAWS is allowing those of you willing to adopt a PAWS animal today-or apply to adopt one within the week-to name your adoption fee!

As the proud owner of a furry friend from the North Shore Animal League, I can attest to the happiness these once-abandoned animals can bring to their  new owners. For those of you not who aren’t quite ready to make the commitment to adopting one of these adorable animals-and the commitment involved shouldn’t be understated-you can peruse the Facebook page for PAWs, or their website in order to find more information about the adoption process.

Brighten up the life of man and woman’s best friends.
