Never Forget

Today marks the one year anniversary of the cold-blooded murder of ICE agent Jaime Zapata. As most of you know, American Rattlesnake has covered the circumstances surrounding the lethal attack on Agent Zapata and Victor Avila, as well as the followup investigation, since his death was first reported. This site has also explored the flagrant abuse of power and obstruction of justice emanating from the Obama administration, which continues to deny responsibility for its central role in the Fast and Furious deaths of both American and Mexican citizens. And even as suspects are convicted for peripheral roles in the Zapata homicide, the chief culprits, i.e. Eric Holder and his superiors in this administration, continue to obfuscate, stonewall, and evade responsibility for their actions.

However, today should be reserved for honoring the ultimate sacrifice that Agent Zapata made on behalf of his country. The Houston Chronicle has a deeply moving story  about the parents of Jaime Zapata, who still struggle with guilt stemming from their son’s last, fatal assignment. I urge you all to read this stirring tribute to one of this country’s many courageous law enforcement officials who have given their lives in order to ensure the security of their fellow Americans. The people of Brownsville, Texas, and the people of the United States, will never forget Agent Zapata’s sacrifice.
