One of the defining periods in this nation’s early history is the second decade of the 19th century. This era saw the demise of the Federalist Party, increased warfare between American settlers and Indian nations, and the seeds of this country’s hemispheric dominance which, by the turn of the century, would be total in its scope. The catalytic event of this age was, of course, the War of 1812, which took place within the context of a much broader series of wars waged by Great Britain and its continental allies against the regnant Napoleonic empire. That’s why I’m pleased to present to you the first video in the Dionysium Monograph series, which aims to present a concise, yet edifying, summary of important historical epochs to the average Youtube user.

Enjoy.
