A very disturbing report comes to us from Arizona, if proven true. Even though the reluctance of President Obama to enforce federal immigration laws is well known, the fact that the U.S. Border Patrol might be instructed to allow illegal aliens-some of whom are potential terrorists-to enter our country with only the most cursory attempt at deterrence is deeply troubling.
This is reminiscent of an incident recounted last month, which also took place in the great state of Arizona, that involved Border Patrol agents shooting non-lethal projectiles at suspected drug smugglers, criminals who would go on to kill Agent Brian Terry. The blood shed by our nation’s law enforcement officials and immigration agents should not be spilled in vain. The stakes are too high to let our border security be entrusted to Washington D.C. bureaucrats whose chief goal is to placate ethnic lobby groups and the political class they sustain. The lives of the men and women defending this country from invasion are not so cheap that they can be sacrificed on the alter of political correctness.
