As desensitized to revelations of the barbarity and relentlessness of Mexican drug cartels as most people have become by this point, there are still some stories that are shocking, such as news that the lead investigator of the death of David Hartley on the Mexican side of Lake Falcon has himself been murdered. This sort of retributive violence should shock no one who’s been following the Mexican drug wars that have defined the presidency of Felipe Calderon, and which are vividly illustrated by the disturbing graphic republished above.
