Senator Hatch’s Road To Damascus Moment?

While not completely certain that Senator Orrin Hatch won’t return to his previously spotty record on immigration matters, this op-ed-penned by the man himself-would appear to signal a determination on his part to mend fences-no pun intended-with the immigration enforcement and control movement.

Coupled with his vote against the DREAM Act-a bill that he initially sponsored-this action serves to illustrate a very important lesson for fellow political activists on our side of the immigration debate. Namely, PRESSURE WORKS!

Granted, Senator Hatch might have eventually come to the logical conclusion that further vitiating America’s national sovereignty was not ultimately in this nation’s interests. However, the pressure exerted by opponents of amnesty and proponents of border security certainly did much to hasten this rather elementary realization. Keep up the pressure, folks! Election Day is nearing, and there are a lot of senators who still cling to the illusions that Orrin Hatch has seemingly discarded.
